What does this course include?
The 1-day NPORS N133 Plant Machinery & Vehicle Marshaller Course, also known as a Traffic Marshaller or Traffic Banksman course, offers practical, hands-on training for beginners. During this course, delegates learn how to safely direct and guide the movement of vehicles, lorries, and heavy plant on construction sites and other work areas.
This program is designed for novice operatives who want to gain NPORS certification and demonstrate competence in safe traffic management and plant movement. By the end of the day, each delegate will have the confidence to apply safety techniques in real site environments.

By the end of this NPORS Plant Machinery & Vehicle Marshaller training, you will be able to:

Understand the industry, relevant legislation, potential hazards, and your responsibilities as a vehicle/plant marshal

Use and refer to the manufacturerβs handbook for the specific vehicle or machine being guided

Apply approved hand signals and effective communication methods when directing machinery

Select and maintain the correct PPE for marshalling duties

Carry out essential site safety checks, including stop blocks and tipping areas

Establish and manage safe exclusion zones for loading and unloading operations

Safely guide vehicles and plant machinery forwards, backwards, in confined spaces, and in blind spots

Recognise and act on key environmental considerations

Complete safe shutdown, parking, and end-of-shift procedures

- Preparing the machine for site and road travel
- Attaching trailed and mounted implements to the machine
- Travelling the machine over different terrain including rough, undulating ground, with mounted and trailed implements
- Travelling up and down substantial inclines, with and without mounted and trailed implements
- Manoeuvring progressing to confined spaces in a forward and reverse direction, with and without mounted and trailed implements
- Precautions and actions for underground and overhead services and other hazards
- Loading procedures
- Placing the Machine in an out-of-service condition
- Loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter
